Touchscreens come to Netbooks

Netbooks (those small, sub $500, internet-capable laptops that were hot this Christmas) are slated to move to touchscreens (in addition to traditional input methods). Intel and Asus are expected to announce this at CES 2009.


The CES 2009 will officially start on January 8th, which is less than 2 weeks away. Netbooks will be of course a very hot topic at the CES 2009. The new generation of netbooks will add touch and will have twistable screens to use them in tablet or notebook style. Read more…

A second article pointed out that XP doesn’t normally support touch screens so there are still questions about this.
This is another sign that touch screens are moving mainstream. If even low-cost laptops are moving to touch, it won’t be long before this is table-stakes on all computers.
